FoW monk-killer build
Ok, here is the build:
Water Magic: 16 (12+1+3)
Energy Storage: 13 (12+1)
Prot./Healing/Restoration: 3
Skills:
Water Trident {E}
Ice Spikes
Deep Freeze
Maelstrom
Glyph of Elemental Power/Glyph of Lesser Energy
Aura of Restoration
Water Attunement
Res Chant/Rebirth/Flesh of Flesh
Armor: Pyromancer or Archmage armor.
Staff/Wand:Flint's Fleshcleaver/Flint's Wand
Offhand:Flint's Artifact or 20/20 collector's
Now the point of this is to easily defeat the largely clumped groups of enemies in FoW. This is done simply by applying Deep Freeze, Glyph of Elemental Power, Maelstrom, and Ice Spikes in that order. Then one can spam Water Trident on the highest priority target as they start to move out of the maelstrom. I have tested this and it works very well. Usually the screen lights up in a beautiful yellow color.
Just thought I'd share an interesting build with everyone and see nhow the feedback is. Feel free to post comments and suggestions.

It's possible that you've finally found a use for Water Trident!
But would it make sense to Arcane Echo Water Trident for maximum spammability? I realize that would hurt energy, and you couldn't use all 20 seconds of the echo period effectively, but it would seem to make sense.
I question whether Deep Freeze is worth the energy cost, since this build has energy management problems anyway. Or is it to keep mobs trapped in the maelstrom?

Deep freeze is just to keep them in maelstrom, and the dmg doesn't hurt. Echo'd Water Trident would be too energy strenuous (I tried it).
If there is more than one monk, then they are slowly walking out of my maelstrom (which usually takes tham 2-4 seconds depending on where they stand) by the time they stop moving to cast they other monk is going to be near-dead or dead.
I do realize that this is a very low energy managed build, that, and the monks, is why my guild always has a battery necro amongst us.
Edited in equiptment also, those items shouldn't be too hard to get (unlike the fire nuker's items).

deep freeze = 66% speed reduction
maelstorm = adjacent range
4 seconds is way overtop. I'd say 1-2... Now you just wasted 50 energy on maelstorm and deep freeze + whatever on trident to kill one monk...
Wouldn't it be just 10000000 times easier and faster just to nuke them all?

Wow, why not just arcane echo backfire? With 16 in dom they drop quickly anyway.

Nice build Here's my personal take on it (from personal experiences):
I'd sub out aura of restoration for arcane echo so I can echo ice-spikes.
For energy: Use a superior energy storage rune you have 15 in energy storage. And I'd sub out Water Trident for Glyph of Energy
If you want a KD to keep em in Malestrom a bit longer take meteor (instead of rez), or have a team-mate bring a good KD skill/spell.
I know, z0mg n0 rezzz!!! I was told so many times by guildies not to bring it; they rather I take a dmg spell instead.
I also used to go full pyro and bring malestrom (with no attribs in water) purely for the interrupts. It works nicely (KD from Meteorshower + interrupt from Malestrom), and interrupts them just enough for the team to out-dmg the monks.
Tridant imo is a very good elite; but I've only personally had use for it in pvp... I tried it in pve a few times, but it was just an energy eater.

well, the usual build my guild does for FoW is:
2 monks (1 healing, 1 prot.)
2 eles (1 fire, 1 other)
2 necros (FoC spiker or SS, 1 Battery)
1 warrior (Stance preferably)
1 other (usually dazed+epidemic ranger or Domination mesmer)
This is why I do not bring meteor, or more energy management. The whole team works to solve the other member's weaknesses. If we play together like a team, it all works well. We've cleaned out FoW numerous times like this, and after we complete factions with all 6 chars of ours, we plan to do it again. I've also tried this with mind freeze, and Water Trident works much better. It packs a suprisingly strong punch, whereas Mind Freeze packed so little damage, and had a high energy cost.
